My thanks to all those who reported errors and worked with me to find a solution to the problems. Your input is most appreciated.
Ver. 1.71 - Released Oct. 18, 2003
This version is a maintenance release only. No new features have been added.
Ver. 1.70.0 - JFTrans 55 - Released Nov. 21, 2002
Adds
a new Tools toolbar to provide quick access to frequently used functions.
Adds a new Fields menu to groups functions related to specific JFile data types such as Calculated Fields, AutoNumber, and the new Lookup type.
Adds
a File History feature to track opened databases and provide a means to
quickly open previously opened files.
Expands
Batch Installer, now named Batch Process, to support the batch import of
files, in addition to install. The
Batch Utility has also been revised. Both
tools support saved file lists, and can now tag files for import or install
based on their modified date.
Revised
Sort Records to support multiple sorts for the same database.
Previously, only one sort was allowed for each database and the sort
info was saved in the Windows Registry.
Sort can now load in any sorts that were defined in JFile and convert
them for use in JFTrans.
Adds an option to use the built in installer logic when installing a PDB file. Previously, the Palm Install Tool, or selected tool, was used to install PDB files and JFTrans would run the selected tool after it had written out the revised data. You had to then close this tool to return to JFTrans. With the built in installer, enabled by default, JFTrans will just install the file immediately without any user intervention.
The
number of items displayed in a popup list can now be configured.
If you use large popup lists, this will make it faster to find the
item you want.
Adds
support for Newline characters in text and memo fields.
Newlines (carriage return / linefeeds), were previously stripped out
on Import in order to save complications with the JFile converter.
Adds
a ReCalc function to recalc the database.
An icon has been added to the lower toolbar, and an option added to
the Database menu. Previously,
the Recalc function was buried on the Calculated Fields box.
Adds
functionality to Create from Access. Access
allows you to link a column to a lookup table, or an entered list of values.
This data appears in a column pulldown list, the same as popups in
JFTrans and JFile. Previously,
this lookup data was ignored by JFTrans.
Version 55 identifies the lookup source, sets the associated field to
a JFile popup type, and loads the secondary data into a popup table
automatically.
Create
from Access can now create from an existing Query in a data source.
If you store queries in an MDB for example, they will appear with a
query icon in the table list. If you select a query, only the data defined by the query
will be imported into the new PDB. This
saves the hassle of pulling in everything and then filtering before you
Install the PDB. JFTrans does
not support attached tables.
Revised
the Export Database function to remove the format buttons and put everything
under a pulldown list. Much
cleaner than the old way, and better suited to expansion for new formats !!
Adds an Add Record function to quickly create ad move to a blank record at the bottom of the grid. The function is on the Tools toolbar and the Database Menu.
Install
PDB File now includes a pulldown list of all users so that you can specify
the user to install to. This
addition only applies to JFTrans in Single User mode.
